Antarctic 100k becomes IAU-labelled race

The Antarctic 100k has been awarded the bronze label of the International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) for 2008. The award is reserved for accurately measured and monitored trail and mountain races. The 100k is the first and only ultra race in the Antarctic recognised by the IAU for record purposes.

The Antarctic Ice Marathon is already a member of the Association of International Marathons & Distance Races (AIMS).

The Ice Marathon & 100k are not only the southernmost marathon and ultramarathon races on earth, respectively, but the only ones that take place within the Antarctic Circle or the interior of the continent.
