A prolific competitor she has completed 67 marathons all over the world including some premier events such as the Everest Marathon, Inca Trail, Pikes Peak, Zermatt, Comrades, Two Oceans, Great Wall, Petra Desert, Mozart100, and Kilimanjoro Marathon. Mauritz is South African born and raised and is the founder of Soul Running, an online coaching business for runners, triathletes and cyclists. He has completed twenty-nine marathons to date with his fastest being his first, running at altitude in Bloemfontein in 2:36:15 hrs at age 25. His other marathons include Boston, Chicago, New York, Cape Town and Buenos Aires and he is also is a six-time Ironman finisher, including the Hawaii Ironman. Yong is also the Chairman and founder of “Run for Sight Foundation”, from which he organizes fun runs & marathons (together with his wife Donna), and all its proceeds are used for medical missions, feeding programs and Christmas gift giving activities in the country. He qualified for the Boston Marathon with a personal best time of 3 hours 14 minutes and completed the Abbot World Marathon Majors in 2018 by doing the Boston and London Marathon in quick succession. The Antarctic Ice Marathon will be his 60th marathon distance race and the seventh continent, thereby becoming a member of the 7 Continents Marathon Club.

She has received the Abbott World Major Medal for completing the Chicago, New York, Boston, Tokyo, Berlin, and London marathons. He is raising money for the MS Society which he describes as a dreadful disease that has had severe consequences for close members of his family.

Upon completion of the Antarctic Ice Marathon Susan, at age 69, will have run thirty-eight marathons covering 7 continents and the 6 Abbott World Marathon Majors. She ran her first marathon as a “bandit” in Boston in 1993 at the age of 43. Upon completion she realized she loved running, and more importantly that it is prudent to train because her longest training run at the time was The Cape Ann Road Race in Gloucester which is 25K/15.6 miles. She then embarked on a long distance, marathon journey completing 20 Boston Marathons, 3 NYC Marathons, 2 Dublin Marathons, Berlin, Bermuda, Buenos Aires, Cape Town, Chicago, Disney World, Fenway Park, London, The Marine Corps, Paris, Sydney, and Tokyo. Susan’s PR was in Boston 3:52:05 at age 58! To maintain balance, Susan is also a dedicated biker, swimmer, and enjoys twice a week yoga and gym workouts. While running keeps her strong, her six grandchildren, Gavin, Sophia, Chloe, Nolan, Mason and Cecilia light up her life and are another source of strength. She works full time at InterSystems Corporation and is the V.P. of Finance, Administration and Recruitment and is well known for her public and private philanthropy. Home is Cambridge, Ma, USA where she lives with her husband Terry who is also running in Antarctica.

At 84-years-old, Roy is set to become the oldest person in history to complete a marathon in Antarctica. He has already run over fifty marathons across four continents and aspires to run one on each of the seven continents. Among his marathons have been the Venice Marathon, Munich Marathon, Persian Marathon, Glasgow, and the Lagos Marathon. Roy's first marathon in North America was in Calgary in 1964 but his best mararhon times were posted in Europe - Helsink (Finland) 2;38 - Preston to Morecambe (UK) 2:40. Roy spent much of him time working in the oil industry ourside of North America.

The 2019 Antarctic Ice Marathon will be the 23rd full marathon for Andreas and the sixth continent he will have completed. It will not be his first marathon on ice, however, as he has twice run the Lake Baikal International Ice Marathon across the world’s biggest lake in Siberia. He aims to qualify for the 7 Continents Marathon Club in January 2020 by competing in Marrakesh. He is dedicating his participation in the Ice Marathon to his father, Dieter, a silver medalist in gymnastics for Canada at the 1959 Pan American Games.

In a company training program back in 2013, Beiwen committed herself to loose 10kg weight, which was seemingly impossible for her at that time, and running became the best way to achieve it. She started with shorter distance races such as 5k, then 10k, and then to her first marathon in 2015, the Beijing Marathon. In 2018, Beiwen organized the first long distance running team in her company Vanke Jiaxing, and does regular training with her colleagues.
