Welcome to the World's Southernmost Marathon

Adventure marathoners and ultra athletes are always looking for the next big challenge. It could be a remote desert marathon, a high altitude mountain marathon or a jungle marathon. However, mainland Antarctica represents the last frontier, the final great wilderness to be conquered. And now adventure athletes like you can do it.

On 13th December 2025, we'll celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Antarctic Ice Marathon^®.

Registration

2026 Antarctic Ice Marathon is scheduled for Dec. 12 to Dec. 14th.

For the registration fee of $22,500 USD, participants will be flown round-trip from Punta Arenas, Chile, to the Union Glacier camp in the interior of the Antarctic. Competitors will receive accommodation and food for their entire Antarctic trip and entry to their race of choice. Top class photos of each competitor in action will be distributed for personal use, as well as medals, t-shirts and patches.

To secure your spot, you'll need to complete the Registration Form, agreeing to the Terms & Conditions, and pay the full entry fee or deposit.

There have been 19 Antarctic Ice Marathon races to date.

Is the 2026 event open?

Yes. The 2026 event is scheduled for Dec. 12 to Dec. 14th with limited spots available. Click “Register for 2026” to submit your registration form.

What does the race entry fee include?

With registration fee of $22,500USD, Runbuk will provide:

Transfers to and from Punta Arenas airport, Chile for Antarctic flight
Briefing in Punta Arenas one day prior to departure
Round trip flights from Punta Arenas to Antarctica
Meals and accommodation while in Antarctica
A Baggage allowance of up to 55lbs (25kg) on Punta Arenas-Union Glacier flight
Entry to your race of choice
Medal, t-shirts, patches and other souvenirs of the race
